In October 2004, a unit within Erie County Department of Mental Health was created (Family Voices Network of Erie County) to address the needs of children and youth (age 5-17) experiencing complex serious mental health challenges.
Family Voices Network of Erie County is a system of care for children and youth experiencing serious emotional, social and/or behavioral challenges. The mission is to provide comprehensive, coordinated, individualized, culturally-competent and cost-effective community-based services that support these children, youth and their families in order to maintain them in their homes, schools and communities.
Services are planned and delivered in a wraparound process which creates a collaboration between the children or youth, their families and a team they select.
Service providers and community partners address each child’s and family’s multiple needs to transition them to natural support.
