There are MANY people here who can help you. Lady Christie, Soulight, Elaine, Ekikaseven, and myself are just a few. We have taken the time to compile a TON of resources to help others. We have all been in the same shoes at one time or another - some of us still are. By working together and helping eachother, we can make it through. We will try to address your posts individually, if we can. However, due to the enormity of the site, the numerous requests, and the vast number of resources available - not to mention the scammers who post - it can be difficult at times. Please be patient. Please check previous posts and pre-existing pages for information. We are not perfect, we make mistakes. We have bad days - just like you. We have bills to pay, familes to care for, illnesses to deal with, and other burdens just like you. BUT just like you, we have a desire to make our lives, and the lives of those we meet, better in some small way. We may send a prayer, a cyber hug, information, links, advice, or even maybe some construcive criticism, if necessary. We do what we do, because we need to, in our own way. If we are lucky, we get to see people move on because they have found the help they needed and do not need to be here anymore. The creators of AIDPAGE have given us, all of us, a great opportunity to reach out and help one another. Please, make the most of your time here: to share, to hope, to dream of a better life; then go out and make it happen!

Your situation is nothing new. You were burned as many here have been. It takes time and tenacity to get out from under. There are no free rides and no, no one will give you something for nothing.

Look at your situation for what it is, nothing more. It can be conquered, but you have to be willing to do the work.

How to prepare for a doctor's vist or a trip to the ER - pg 1

continued on page 2What many don’t know is: I work as a receptionist in a doctor’s office, full time (a BIG part of the reason I have not been here lately). I want to pass along some information that will not only help you as the patient, but the staff at other offices and the Emergency Rooms when you are in need of medical assistance. Making an appointment in a doctor’s office. When calling to make an appointment for yourself or your family member have the following handy: Your relationship to the patientName of patientDate of birthSocial security number – not usually necessary, but may be needed if there are multiple similar namesName of insurance Insurance ID # Insurance group ID# Why you are calling – check up, physical, script refills, to have forms filled out. All current medications – including all over the counter medications Some notes of interest here: · IF you are not the patient or parent of the patient, please have the proper documentation that gives you the right to make appointments or to inquire about the patient’s health. If you are the legal guardian or the parent with custody please have a copy of the court documents with you when you bring the minor child to the appointment. Have the staff make a copy and place it in the child’s chart. · Insurance – Please notify the medical staff of the following: 1. if you do not have insurance 2. your insurance has been terminated 3. you insurance has changed 4. you are being seen because you were hurt at work 5. you are being seen because you were hurt due to a car accident These are all different types of insurance cases that must be addressed and updated in order to bill the correct company. If it is not submitted properly, you may end up with a bill that you are not liable for. Remember it is easier to prevent a mistake than to correct an error. Physicals - When making an appointment for a physical, please be patient. Many patients want these appointments and take approximately 30 minutes. Therefore, you may not get one scheduled when you want it, again, please be patient with the staff, you may have to re-arrange your schedule to get an appointment. Script refills – PLEASE, do not call your doctors office at 4pm on a Friday afternoon and tell them you are all out of your medication. Keep track of your meds. Get a pill organizer – you can get these at the local discount store for $1 – and when you are on your last week, then call. Also, you may also be able to call your pharmacist and have them fax the request to your doctor who will approve it that way, then have them call you when the script is ready to be picked up. Not only is it easier on the staff, but faster for you as well. ********NOTE – not all doctors may do this, check with your doctor BEFORE YOU CALL!!!!PAPERWORK – your child needs a form filled out for school, or you need a copy of immunization records, or disability paperwork filled out, etc. Call your doctor and ask them what their procedure is. You may be able to drop the forms off and then pick them up at a later date. 1. ******NOTE – DO NOT EXPECT TO DROP THEM OFF AND PICK THEM UP THE SAME DAY!!!! 2. Also, make a copy of the form PRIOR to dropping it off – this way, if the form is (God forbid) LOST, you have another to give them right away. Also, when you pick up your forms, ask them for an additional copy for your own records – most offices will gladly do this for you. Medical records – If you are transferring to another practice, you will want your records to go with you. Most offices do have form letters that you can fill out or you can submit your request in writing. Be sure to include the following: name, date of birth, social security number, address, phone # , where the records are going (complete Doctor’s name, address and phone) 1. If you want any HIV, mental health (including depression or anxiety information) or alcohol/drug information to be sent, you MUST SPECIFY this. This is protected health information and it WILL NOT BE RELEASED WITHOUT SPECIFIC AUTHORIZATION. 2. What you must know is that the ENTIRE record will NOT be sent. Most offices will send the bare minimum: usually the last 2 years of tests, doctor’s notes, notes from specialists, along with immunization records, medication lists and any other pertinent information. 3. This is normally done for free if it is going to another doctor’s office. 4. If you choose to have the records given to you, you may/may not be charged 75¢ per page. 5. Also some offices have a service copy their records. Because the volume is so large, it may take several weeks to get the records to your new doctor’s office. Once you submit your request wait approximately 3 weeks prior to calling to check the status of your request. When you do call, ask for the medical records office or the health information office. They are the people who can serve you best. 6. ****Again, make a copy for yourself and note when the ORIGINAL request was submitted. 7. Also if you are requesting information for your child or another family member, make sure you have the right to do so. Records WILL NOT BE SENT unless you are the parent or legal guardian or you are the HEALTH CARE PROXY – this is a legal document that you can pick up in any doctors office that gives you the right to make health care decisions for another person. Additionally, you submit an original request - no copies are permitted. · Mondays – Mondays are an extremely busy day for any office. Please be patient. Calling 10x about the same situation is not going to get you help any sooner. If you are in need of immediate medical attention go to the nearest ER. All Messages taken WILL BE ANSWERED BEFORE THE CLOSE OF BUSINESS THAT DAY BY THE PROPER MEDICAL PERSONEL. Usually the person you leave the message with is the receptionist; she does NOT have medical training and cannot inform you about what to do. · Walk-ins – Unless it specifically states the office accepts walk-ins, do NOT assume that your doctor will see you if you walk in off the street without an appointment. MOST WILL NOT. Again, if you are in need of immediate medical assistance, go to your local emergency room. · BE ON TIME – If your appointment is for 9 am – get there @ 8.45. Most will not see you if you are 10 minutes late and you will still be billed for your appointment. Additionally, you set the doctor behind, along with the rest of the patients for the remainder of the day. Please, be considerate of others; be EARLY for your appointment. IF you cannot be on time – CALL! Ask them if you can still be seen if you are late. The staff may/may not ask you to reschedule. If you have a pattern of showing up late or not at all, the office may/may not ask you to seek medical care else where and discharge you from their practice. · Keep track of your appointments – some offices will call you the day before your appointment to remind you, others do not – THIS IS A COURTESY, NOT OUR OBLIGATION – please keep your appointment card, mark it on your calendar, whatever, if you cannot keep your appointment, please let us know, so we can assist other patients. · Remember most medical staff interact with are people just like you. They have a high stress job with average pay. We are trying to get by just like you. We are trying to our best to help you, the nurses, doctors, drug reps, and every other person we meet. Most will do their best to assist you in every way they can – others are not so accommodating and I apologize for them. However, by working together, we can try to make your visit as pleasant as possible.

Going to the Emergency Room - part 2

Continued from page 1

No one wants to go to the ER, but sometimes it is necessary. When you do, it is best to be prepared to make you visit go as smoothly as possible. I have posted some information here that I hope will help those who have to use an ER. Going to the Emergency Room:

An ER is different from a
doctor’s office in the respect that you may have never been there before and
may never be there again. The most important thing you should know: They CANNOT
REFUSE TO TREAT A PATIENT, BUT they can give basic medical care to stabilize
the patient and then move the patient to another facility. That being said,
here is a list of what you should bring with you to the ER.

Your Name, DOB, Social Security #, address,
phone and relationship to the patientName of patientDate of birthSocial security number AddressPhonePrimary doctor’s name, office address, phoneName of insurance – bring the card so they can
make a copy Insurance ID # Insurance group ID#A list of ALL medications including over the
counter medsIf you were hurt at work, your employer’s
compensation carrier’s informationIf you were involved in anything related to a
motor vehicle, your car insurance information

1. ***NOTE if you were hurt on the job or in a car, it
is illegal for an ER to bill any other insurance carrier for your illness, you
must provide the proper insurance information OR you will be billed directly.

Every
ER is different, some may have you sign in, and others may have you take a
number. If you are unsure of their procedure, ask.

1. Normally, you will be assessed (triaged) by a nurse,
at first. The nurse will take your temperature, blood pressure; ask about your
symptoms, why you are there, how long it has been going on, etc. Depending on
your illness or injury, they may even ask for a urine sample – please return this
to the nurse!

2. They will either take you to a room or ask to sit in
the waiting room until you are called.

3. Next you will see the receptionist. She/he will then
take all your information and register you. You will then be asked to return to
the waiting area. ********IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS AT ANY TIME PLEASE ASK!!!!!

4. Sometimes an ER can be a long wait, please do not be
discouraged. We know how frustrating it can be, we have sat there too. However,
you must understand we have to treat the most urgent cases first. You may have
back pain, but someone else may come in AFTER you with a heart attack. The more
urgent, pressing cases take precedence.

5. Please do not use electronic devices in the ER – not only
because they may interfere with medical equipment, but due to privacy issues.
You would not want someone taking a picture of you with their cell phone while
you were waiting to be seen would you? Please shut ALL electronic equipment
completely OFF!!!

6. Please DO NOT LEAVE the ER Waiting room without
telling someone. If you leave to make a phone call and do not tell anyone and
your name is called, they will not go looking for you. More likely than not,
they will note that you left with out treatment and the next person will be
called.

7. Please do not have family or friends call or come in
to check on you. We can call a family member for you, but we will not give
messages over the phone. This not only deters us from assisting others but it
is a violation of federal regulations. WE CANNOT DIVULGE PRIVATE HEALTH
INFORMATION TO ANYONE WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT, so please do not ask.

8. Please be honest with the staff and doctors – if you
are in need of insurance or a specialist or if you live with domestic violence,
please tell someone – they are there to help!

9. We know you are in need of help; we have been in your
shoes. We have spent nights with our own children while they cried from ear
aches or other childhood ailments. We have seen people at their worst. Please
help us to do our job by being honest and courteous. In return we will do our
best to help you in any way we can.

For anyone who deals with depression, help may be coming sooner than you think....

From The NY times:

On the Horizon, Personalized Depression Drugs

By RICHARD A. FRIEDMAN, M.D.

Published: June 19, 2007

Imagine that you are depressed and see a psychiatrist who explains that you have clinical depression
and would benefit from an antidepressant. So far, so good. But then the
doctor tells you there is a 60 percent chance that you’ll feel better
with this antidepressant and that it could take as long as four to six
weeks to find out, during which time you’ll probably have some side
effects from the drug.
I have just described the
state-of-the-art pharmacologic treatment of major depression in 2007.
Don’t get me wrong; we have very effective and safe treatments for a
broad array of psychiatric disorders. But in everyday clinical
practice, we have little ability to predict which specific treatment
will work best for you.Laura is a case in point. A successful
management consultant in her late 30s, she sought help for lifelong
depression. Her treatment began with four weeks of the antidepressant
Lexapro, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, or S.S.R.I., without
any effect. Next, I switched her to Zoloft, another S.S.R.I., since the
chance of response to another member of the same drug family is about
60 percent. Again, no response. Then we moved on to Wellbutrin, an
entirely different type of antidepressant, but this didn’t work either.
Laura was now ready to call it quits, and who could blame her? After
nearly three months, I had still not found an effective treatment for
her. Then she came in one day and said her father had recently revealed
that he had been depressed and had done well on Prozac, another
S.S.R.I., and she wondered if she could try it. Within three weeks, she
felt markedly better, and the symptoms of her depression began to melt
away.Instead of the hit-or-miss approach I had to use with
Laura, it will soon be possible for a psychiatrist to biologically
personalize treatments. With a simple blood test, the doctor will be
able to characterize a patient’s unique genetic profile, determining
what biological type of depression the patient has and which
antidepressant is likely to work best. Scientists have
identified genetic variations that affect specific neurotransmitter
functions, which could explain why some patients respond to some drugs
but not to others. For example, some depressed patients who have
abnormally low levels of serotonin respond to S.S.R.I.’s, which relieve
depression, in part, by flooding the brain with serotonin. Other
depressed patients may have an abnormality in other neurotransmitters
that regulate mood, like norepinephrine or dopamine, and may not
respond to S.S.R.I.’s.In a report last October in the journal
Science, Dr. Francis Lee, a colleague of mine at Weill Cornell Medical
College, identified a genetic mutation that could potentially predict
patients’ responses to an entire class of antidepressants. He
inserted into a mouse a defective variant of the human gene for
brain-derived neurotrophic factor, a protein that is increased in the
brain with S.S.R.I.treatment and is critical to the health of neurons.
Then he subjected these “humanized” mice to stress and found that they
did not respond to Prozac with decreased anxiety. The clear implication
is that people with this variant will not be able to respond to any
S.S.R.I., which requires normal neurotrophic-factor function to work. A
psychiatrist could identify this genetic variant and then steer his
patient to a different class of antidepressants. Furthermore,
other genes may play a role in the adverse effects of antidepressants
that have made recent headlines: suicidal behavior. Recent evidence
shows that a small number of depressed adolescents and young adults
experience an increase in suicidal feelings and thoughts when they are
treated with S.S.R.I.’s, compared with a placebo. It is entirely
possible that a genetic variation in one or more genes that regulate
serotonin function makes these people feel briefly more suicidal,
rather than less, when exposed to the drugs. This new field of
pharmacogenomics will also enable psychiatrists to predict which drugs
might produce toxic side effects for certain patients. Nearly all drugs
are metabolized by a group of enzymes that vary greatly in activity
from person to person. If patients have a genetic mutation that results
in either deficient enzyme activity or none, they would be likely to
have serious side effects if exposed to the drug that is metabolized by
the enzyme. Within a few years, patients could be routinely
screened for these genetic variations, which will tell a doctor which
drugs to avoid. This could potentially prevent unnecessary drug
toxicity, a major cause of illness and death.Aside from the
potential to transform clinical psychiatric practice, these new
developments will surely change the relationship between doctors and
the drug industry and between the industry and the public.
Direct-to-consumer advertising will become nearly irrelevant because
the drugs will no longer be interchangeable, but will be prescribed
based on an individual’s biological profile. Likewise, doctors will
have little reason to meet with drug company representatives because
they won’t be able to give doctors the single most important piece of
information: which drug for which patient. For that doctors will need a
genetic test, not a salesman.Soon, your psychiatrist will really
get to know you — not just your mind, but your brain, too. Treatment
doesn’t get more personal than that. Richard A. Friedman is director of the psychopharmacology clinic at the Weill Cornell Medical College.

Bullies...What to do....

We all deal with bullies. Yes, even as outspoken as I can be, have dealt with, and continue to deal with bullies, every day. As kids, they teased and tormented us. Stole our lunch money, pulled our hair, pushed us, turned our friends against and and basically exiled us to a life of solitude until someone stepped in. But what do we do as adults? Bullies still exist every day. They cut in front of us on the road, they push ahead of us in line at the store, they berate us, they criticize us, mock us and yes, torment us into a life of exile - again. So what do you do when you are 20, 30, or even 40+ something and you have a bully in your life? Or worse yet, they are co-workers? In my job, I deal with them all the time. I have 3 in my office now.The first one - Judy - came up to me one day with a BMI chart. It lists your height, weight, and tells you if you are basically FAT. Ok I'll admit I am fat, I know it, I don't need someone to tell me that. So here comes Judy with her chart and she asks me, "How tall are you?" I turned to her and said," Walk away, right now!"She looked at me with shock and dismay and said " I didn't mean anything by it." To which I replied, "If you didn't mean anything by it, then why did you say anything?!" To this she had no answer. The next day I want to my boss and told her. I explained this was not the first time Judy had done something inappropriate such as this and I wanted it stopped right now. Judy was called into the boss's office and her behavior stopped immediately. Noreen, another co-worker, is a loudmouthed, foul mouthed, over-bearing woman who thinks she can do no wrong. Every day, I tolerated her behavior towards me and other co-workers. When approached with suggestions for any type of improvement, Noreen would sneer and refuse to change a thing. It would be done her way or not at all. Every time I did something she would ridicule the way I did it and the anger just built. What you should know is that working in a doctors office, charts are everywhere. When a patient calls, we have to locate the chart and give it to nurses with the message. That particular day, I could not find 3 charts, I had looked several times and even asked others to help me find them - no one could find these charts. Begrudgingly, I asked for Noreen's help. She came back and exclaimed,"LOOK! 3 charts in under 3 MINUTES!" Well, that was all I could take, I turned around, clapped, and said" Oh goody for you!" She said," Well if you did your job, then you would find them too." I said, "I do my job, if you think you could do better then go right ahead! Oh but I forgot, you can't do my job that's why you work in records now." That was the end of the Noreen situation. Then there is Mary. Mary is menopausal and feels that since our supervisor has left she is now in charge - she's not. For the past 7 months I have dealt with Mary's mood swings and hotflashes. She has singled me out as her newest pet peeve. Mary thinks that whatever mary wants, Mary's gonna get. She has tormented the staff in that office for so long that one has IBS so bad that whenever she eats, she has to run to the bathroom right away. Another is so stressed she has extremely high blood pressure and is now on antidepressants. So, now, Mary takes everything out on me. Our office temperature is 75degrees I open the door. Mary says she is cold so she closes it. I am told by the doctor or nurses to do something Mary thinks she has the right to question everything I do. Mary does not feel it is part of her job to answer the phone. She criticizes and questions everything I do. I have asked to be trained in transcription and billing - Mary said no. NO ONE STANDS UP TO MARY. I have tried to stand up to her, I have tried to go along with her, I have gone to my boss (when she was there) - nothing works. Then I found this website (BELOW) because I thought I was being immature and thought I would look foolish because It sounded like Mary was picking on me and it was all my imagination. It's NOT. MARY IS A BULLY. In most cases, if you stand up to a bully, they will back down. That is my experience. In this case, it is much more difficult to deal with. This particular person likes to play "head games" and make me feel like I am the one at fault. She does very little work and any mistakes she makes, she claims are never her's. Or she distracts people by pointing out other people's actions. For 7 months I have dealt with the shame and anxiety of being ridiculed and harrassed by this woman. There is no end in sight other than to leave my job and find work elsewhere. I will admit defeat when I have to and this is one of those times. My point of all this is: There is legislation for sexual harrassment but not for bullies. There is little to no help in this area because it is very hard to prove. It is a psycholigical battle in the workplace that creates fear and illness on an immense scale. When this bully is your boss, then it is even more difficult, if not impossible to deal with. Sometimes the best thing to do is leave. And that is what I plan to. I am posting a link for those who deal with these bullies. I hope it can help someone, somewhere. What is Bullying? Here is more information if you are dealing with a bully....

Even if you have no intention of fighting
back, you absolutely MUST document on paper every single bullying
incident that happens. There are several reasons why this is so essential:

·
it is easier to see patterns of abuse if it is
written down in chronological order

·
this information will become invaluable if you
end up in a lawsuit (remember, this could happen because the bully decides to
sue you, not the other way around)

·
bullies are very good at convincing their
targets (and others) that they (their accusers) are delusional - having all
your incidents written down will refresh your memory and may provide comfort
when you most need it

·
you might change your mind about fighting back,
or you might find that they are expanding their circle of targets, and there is
an opportunity to fight back as a group -- your records would then suddenly
become very important

·
you can use the information you have recorded to
challenge the bully. If they are accusing you of bullying them, for example,
you can trot out your notebook and say "What about ______ that you said to
me on _____ ?"

Buy
yourself a special notebook or a binder and start recording information:

·
write down all past incidents with the dates as
close as you can make them

·
in all incidents include the date, approximate time,
who was present, and who said what

·
print out and keep all e-mails (both on paper
and in a folder of your in-box), notes and transcripts of phone messages (also
record and keep the messages so that you have their voice on tape saying these
things)

·
if there has been property damage, take keep
lots of pictures

·
if the police are involved, obtain and keep
copies of their reports

·
if there is a physical injury get and keep
copies of all medical reports, including medication prescribed.·
if possible, ask bystanders to sign that they
have witnessed an event.

Keep this record in a very safe place, and
be careful to keep its location and even its existence secret from all
but those you most trust. If you need to use your records to confront a bully
or prove that someone has been targeting you, take a photocopy and leave the
original in its safe place.

Never give your original notes to anyone
else:

1)
they may conveniently "lose" your documents because they are secretly
on the bully's side; or

2)
they may lose some or all of your notes because they are careless. After
all, it's not their problem, and they might not understand the seriousness of
what you are saying. Keep your original notes in a secret and safe place, only
surrendering them to legal people when asked specifically for original
documents. Even then, make them sign for them and keep copies for yourself

Another thing you might find useful- especially if you are dealing with a bully at work or at odd times - carry a small voice activated tape recorder with you at all times. learn how to use it, properly and have it ready. You never know what they may say! But at least you'll be ready for them....

Comment: To AngelGil~

Note: This aidpage was started as a comment on "For anyone who deals with depression, help may be coming sooner than you think...."To AngelGil~ While I do agree with some of your post, I have to disagree with other points you have made. I want to say that it is good to see that you have used your experience to help others. Too many have done far less with the gifts they have received in their lives. 1- you stated: *(3a). FIRST OF ALL, "DEPRESSION" COMES FROM "YOUR IMMUINE SYSTEM" BECOMING "OVER STIMULATED", THE "DENTAL MERCURY" BEING "THE BIGGEST CAUSE".( MERCURY PERSERVATIVES IN "VACINES OF CHILDREN CAUSES "AUSTIC CHILDREN".) While I do agree with this to a certain extent, it is NOT entirely true. Mental Illness can have MANY sources.I have no mercury fillings. I have no teeth! I have a full set of dentures. I lost my teeth due to the medications I had to take to control my illness. Your environment can also cause depression. Have you even been in an abusive situation and felt you have no way out? Lived with an alcoholic or a drug addict? Were so poor you couldn't feed your children or pay your bills? While these may be temporary situations, they are very depressing and without support, wreaks havoc on a person's well being. 2- THERE WAS "NO" "MENTAL ILLNESS", IT WAS "DEMOND POSSESSION". Mental illness or demon possession is in the eye of the beholder. Some churches believe that people can be healed through snake charming too -other people choose to believe that medicine can help. While I do not deny that miracles exist, I find it hard to believe in any organized religion. 3 - JESUS AND HIS DECIPLES, INCLUDING ~ANGELGIL~ "HEALS THE SPIRIT My own personal belief in Jesus is far too in depth to discuss here. I believe we all have the capacity to live our lives like Jesus. It is a matter of integrity, faith, and perseverance - but not religion. 4 -"DEMONS "ATTACH" THEMSELVES TO THE "ABUSED"-"ABUSERS" I do agree with this statement to a certain extent. While demons may attach themselves to the abuser, it is up to the abuser to make a conscious decision to change their ways. The ABUSED, in many cases CHILDREN, do not have this choice. No one asks to be abused. To presume so is to say the abused is just as guilty as the abuser. I find it hard to believe that an small child chooses to be beaten on a daily basis. When it is an adult they do have choices and if they choose to stay because it is too hard to leave and they do not want to give up their nice home, then that is their choice. 5 - THE "MENTAL HEALTH SYSTEM" CANNOT "HEAL" THE "ALLEDGED MENTAL ILLNESS" Untrue. Some mental health issues are caused by a biological disorder. When the source is found, then the illness can be cured. 6 - THE "MENTAL HEALTH SYSTEM" "WON'T LET YOU EVER "LET YOU FORGET" "YOUR-ABUSE", AS YOU ARE A "CASH COW" FOR THEM, AS THEY GET "PAID" DISCUSSING YOUR ABUSE"... Adult survivors of abuse are not made to re-live their past simply to keep the medical profession in business. A good therapist, psychiatrist, counselor or whatever professional you choose will help a person to face their past accept it for what it was and help the person move forward with their life. 7-"SOMEBODIES" "GETS'S PAID" FOR "CREATING THE "ALLEDERD MENTAL MEDICATION" AND "DUMPING IT DOWN YOUR THROAT", CAUSING, EVEN "MORE "BRAIN DAMMAGE... Not all medications will work for everyone. You have to keep trying until you find one that works for you.It is a matter of trial and error. Yes the drug companies make a TON of money from their medications. I will not deny that. However, it is up to the patient to say, "No, that does not work for me." and try something new. It is also up to the patient to make the changes necessary in their lives to alleviate any symptoms they may have. MEDICATION DOES NOT HEAL, it alleviates the symptoms so that people can go on with their lives. Some medications do damage, but no more so than we have polluted our own environment and animals with our so-called "food". 8 -".(THATS WHY "IT DOESN'T WORK", AS IT ONLY "FRUSTRATES" THE "DRUGGED VICTIMS". THEY REALLY OUGHT TO GO TO JAIL, FOR "PRACTICING EVIL"-"WITCH CRAFT", AND GO TO "JAIL FOREVER", "IN ISOLATION"! TO BE "HEALED" AND "FORGIVEN" FOR BOTH THE "ABUSED" AND THE "ABUSERS" Do you really think that every person who has depression should go to jail? Have you have cried over the loss of a friend or family member? That's depression - may be you should go to jail. Tell me you have no fears, then I would have to say that you have a mental illness and you should go to jail as well - everyone gets afraid from time to time. While your statements may be well intentioned, they are arrogant and ignorant - not at all Christ-like. If you were an angel, you would show compassion to your fellow man regardless of who they were and what their background was. To me you appear to be nothing more than a self-appointed minister spouting hellfire and brimstone to anyone who does not agree with you and follow your rules. I pray you find the compassion and love that you have failed to give to the people around you.

I received your post and I can refer you to a few places that might be of help.

first for medications - check pparx.com - link below. They may be able to help her get her meds free from the manufacturer.

for help with electric and other utilities: If she hasn't already. call the utility companies and see if there is a payment plan they can work out. If that doesn't work try the following: HEAP - usually seasonal but give them a shot, catholic charities, red cross, st vincent de paul, and food pantries to help with the every rising cost of food! I have all the national offices listed on my homepage - 1 source - the food pantries can also refer her to any other places I have not mentioned.

I am also listing Lady Christie's and Soulight's pages. Both have an enormous amount if information and links!Contributed links:

Note: This aidpage was started as a comment on "Aidpage of little head"Little Head,

You have given no information about your organization: name, address, phone, how long it has been in existence, governing board, your mission statement, etc.

I think what you are trying to do is admirable, however if you need help, you do need to give more information about your organization and yourself.

Also, you can locate many grant writers via the internet on other sites ( monster, sologig, etc) However, any grantwriter, no matter how you locate them do require one thing - the guarantee they will get paid.

If you fail to list your organization's identifying information, then how will prospective applicants know they will get paid for their work?

just my thoughts....

Comment: They are adorable!!!! But...

Note: This aidpage was started as a comment on "Home page of Tiffany Howell"They are adorable!!!! But please, remove the pics of your kids for their own safety! First of all, if you are not getting it already, get your children the child support they are entitled to! Please, NO EXCUSES!!!! (I have heard them all before) If they have a father - they must, otherwise how else would they have been born? - They are due child support! This includes medical coverage as well. For a car, try wheels to work, they may be able to loan you the money for a vehicle to get you back and forth to work. You also may be able to get rental assistance as well as day care for the kids - from social services and HUD. Afterall, once you move out of your parent's home, you will have to put the kids in day care so you can work and go to school. I have all the links on my site and soulight and lady christie have a TON of information on their sites and pages as well. A word of advice from someone who has been in your shoes: Think VERY carefully about what you are planning. Is living with mom and stepdad so difficult, so terrible, that you have to move? You have a built in support system - provided you don't take advantage of it. I know what I am about to say is going to draw a LOT of criticism from a LOT of people but I don't mince words and I will NOT sugarcoat anything. For the sake of your future as well as that of your children, You are 19 years old with 2 children - STOP HAVING SEX!!!! Use some form of birth control like : ABSTINENCE. Guys at 19 do NOT want a ready-made family and they sure as hell are not going to respect a girl who already has one. Keep your clothes on, get an education, and keep away from the guys! Grow up and get your priorities straight, you are a mother now and have been for almost 2 years - do what is best for your children.

Note: This aidpage was started as a comment on "I want to go back to SCHOOL...HELP"Hi Nikki~ Unfortunately, you cannot include student loans in a bankruptcy. There are, however, alternatives when it comes to paying the loan back. First of all, I don't understand what you mean by having only "65 hours". If the loan is a govt student loan, then you can apply for forebearance or a deferment. The people at FAFSA can help you with that. ( link below) If the loan is through the school and now with a collection agency, you still have options. For one thing, they cannot threaten you - with ANYTHING! That is against the FAIR DEBT COLLECTION PRACTICES ACT - FDCPA - link below. If that is indeed the case- account is in collections- due to your accident you may be able to still make payments or other arrangements. Contact the Kentucky higher education or the Kentucky state attorney general. Both links are below and if one cannot help you, the other should.Contributed links: fafsaFDCPAKentucky higher educationattorney general - kentucky

Note: This aidpage was started as a comment on "I want to go back to SCHOOL...HELP"I would definitely talk to the KY state attorney general - see if they can intervene on your behalf. I am going through the same thing thru a private college here in NY and they are impossible. They sent the loan to collections, charged me an additional $1000 , and demanded payment ASAP - I don;t think so! I sent a letter to the atty general's office, explaining the situation in detail and asked for their assistance. In the mean time, I notified the collection agency of the situation and told them I would NOT SPEAK to them until I had an answer from the attorney general. I have received a letter from the attorney general and they are forwarding my letter to the office of higher education here in NY. The collection agency has now sold the loan to another agency - therefore I have to now send them the same information. It is crazy, but I REFUSE TO PAY FOR A LOAN I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR. IF/WHEN the office of higher education does resolve this situation, then I will make arrangements - if necessary - until then, they can wait.

I, too would love to go back to school, unfortunately, the circumstances are just not right. AS frustrating as that is, I have to get this straightened out before I do anything else.

Trust me, get the car paid for, get this loan straightened out and then, get back into class. But don;t try to rush things. I have found from my own experience, when you rush, you don;t see things as clearly as you should and mistakes happen. Clear everything up first.

Note: This aidpage was started as a comment on "Home page of Tiffany Howell"Dear Ekikaseven and Tiffany, Had we all listened to our parents, may be none of us would be in our current positions! ;) However, after exchanging private posts, I have learned there is more to Tiffany's situation. I was unduly harsh without knowing all the facts and I truly apologize for being so presumptuous. I think I am so hard on the younger women here because I know what they are going through and I do NOT want them to make similar mistakes in their lives that I have made in mine. As you have said, it is better to be safe/responsible. But as a teen, we all think we are invincible. As we get older, we realize life is not so forgiving. We have limitations and we make mistakes. We learn the harsh realities of life. By choice or by chance, we have all found our way here. Life should not be so hard for any of us. There are easier ways out, but few are permanent and more likely than not, most will land us right back where we started from. Making the right choice is never easy - if it were, we would all do the right thing! ;) So I say this will all the love in my heart, please do what you need to do, but no matter what, get that degree, be a good mom, and believe me, when all is said and done, love your children. No matter what. Because that is the one thing they will remember in the end. Be blessed~

What about this: Have you tried having the local news run the story - perhaps they can set up a fund to help. Or maybe having a fund raiser in your own community. I understand time is of the essence, but I think that by getting the local news involved and having them question the VA as to WHY they won't do the surgery - maybe THAT will spur them on... any government agency that is questioned publicly has a tendency to move just a little more quickly - just a thought - but I think it is worth a try.Contributed links: wish fulfillmentmodest needsprosper - loan program

Dental help and information

I read many, many posts about dental problems. The first place to go for help is Soulight's pageWhile I wish I could help everyone get that perfect movie star smile, the best I can offer is my advice. I had my teeth removed and full dentures put in about 5 years ago - the best thing I ever did! What I have learned is that many of the new medications have a tendency to dry out your mouth. This will cause RAPID DECAY in your mouth. At first it's a few cavities, then abcesses, then after you know it they all have to come out. The best prevention is brushing, flossing, rinsing and drinking LOTS OF WATER! Sugar free gum or Sugar free hard candy is recommended - but I don't really like to tell people that simply because of the aspertame in the candy/gum has its own host of problems. There are other things you can use- I don't know how well they work, I have never really tried them - but there are mouthwashes and lozenges that keep your mouth moist. If you are experiencing DRY MOUTH - please talk to your doctor or dentist and ask what they recommend. When it comes to infections/abcesses - seek medical attention! Infections can travel throughout your body and lead to more serious problems. Some people may have medical insurance but not dental. Medical
insurance will cover an ER visit - the usual co-pay I have found to be
@$50 - which you can make payments on! Medicaid will cover dental - but try and find a dentist that will accept it. If you are in serious pain , you can be treated by an Emergency room doctor - they do accept Medicaid - who can prescribe antibiotics and even something to ease the pain. Ask them for local dental clinic information - they should be able to refer you to a nearby clinic that can assist you. Many people ask why Medicaid will pay for pulling teeth but not a root canal. I don't know about you, but when confronted with a root canal, I would prefer to have the tooth pulled! Additionally, it is CHEAPER to pull the tooth and, in the long run, it may prevent further problems. Whenever you are in doubt, please ASK questions! Keep asking until you are satisfied with the answer you receive.

What moves YOU?

Terry Ritchie just posted the Prayer of Jabez and I found it to be wonderfully moving. So I was wondering what moves people? What touches their heart? Some may have lost interest in the church or their religion. Others may feel that God has forgotten them. But EVERYONE has something that touches their soul. To me it is music. I have found a new song The Last Night by Bon Jovi (of course) but I think that a lot of people can relate to it. I am going to post the lyrics, but I want you to think of what really touches your soul and please post about it. The Last Nightby Bon JoviThese Days, it's hard to have a heartIt doesn't matter where you come from or who you think you areThese days, it's hard just fitting inWhy does someone have to lose, for someone else to winWe're all looking for forgiveness, and someone we can trustYou can't wrap your arms around the world, it all comes down to usThis is the last night you'll have to be aloneI'll be standing right beside you if you can't make it on your ownSo walk with me please, help me to be strongI'll be the shoulder you can lean on when everybody's goneThis is the last night, you'll have to be aloneI know you heard it all before,There's nothing worse than living less, when you yearn for something moreMakes no sense, it's hard to understand,When something that should fill you up, keeps slipping through your hands. This is the last night you'll have to be alone
I'll be standing right beside you if you can;t make it on your own
So walk with me please, help me to be strong
I'll be the shoulder you can lean on when everybody's gone
This is the last night you'll have to be aloneWe're all looking for answers, we're all down here on our kneesAll anybody really wants is something to believeEnough is enough, I can't take it anymoreI'm standing here on your front porch, and kicking down your door This is the last night, you'll have to be alone
I'll be standing right beside you, if you can't make it on your own
So walk with me, please, help me to be strong
I'll be the shoulder you can lean, that place where you belong
This is the last night, you'll have to be alone

This means that regardless of where the person lives, they still get the subsidy. In NY the waiting list is 8-10 years. ****If at anytime, you are denied accessibility to applying for any program, you should contact your local city, county, or state leaders and have them intervene on your behalf. - THIS APPLIES TO ANYONE WHO IS DENIED ASSISTANCE. HOWEVER, there is another alternative. Subsidized housing where the subsidy stays with the property rather than with the renter. You would still pay the same amount of rent - it is based on your income - but you would have to move into a government subsidized property. In most cases, these are handicapped accessible, family oriented, all the maintenance is included - among other things. I am including the link for HUD below - just click on the proper state and take it from there. You will need a minimal security deposit - which you can possibly get paid by social services or another charitable organization. Regardless of how long the list is you should still be able to be put on the list.

Note: This aidpage was started as a comment on "How to Create More Money in Your Household"I would like to add a few more if I may: Don't buy it unless you ABSOLUTELY need it! A bargain is NOT a bargain if you have no use for it. Keep a list of ALL your expenses for the week. At the end of the week, you will have a better idea of where your money is going - and where you may be able to cut back. Stop newspaper and magazine subscriptions - you can read it all online anyway. Give yourself an allowance - leave all the credit and debit cards at home - out of reach. When the allowance is gone, you are done spending. If you must shop: shop at thrift/discount stores and garage sales. Cut back on phone/cell/cable services. Call the companies and ASK them for their least expensive package, what it includes, and how much you will save every month - NOTE - make sure there is NOT a transfer/cancellation charge! For those of you who still have credit cards - call the company and ask for a lower interest rate - they will not give it to you unless you ask! If you are paying double digit interest on a credit card - get rid of it! Close the account, cut up the card and pay it off as quickly as possible. Request the account be closed in writing. Keep a copy of the letter for your records.

MAKE A CHANGE....

We ALL need a change for the better. Let's face it, when you have to pay 85¢ for a roll of generic toilet paper something is seriously wrong! We have 1 year until we get a change in the White House - no, I will not comment on the current occupant - I would get wiped right off the board! Anyway,we have new candidates who want OUR votes. They are going from town to town, spending tons of $ to get us to vote for them. My question is: What are they going to do for us? So I was thinking - why not contact them and let our voices be heard? I am including John Edward's, Obama's and Hilary's contact pages. Tell them what you tell everyone here. Include your aidpage link.Go to their town meetings when they come near your home town. Keep talking or writing until someone listens. Do NOT threaten, ridicule, or get nasty. Tell them your story, like you tell us here - that is all. Let them see for themselves what the REAL AMERICAN PUBLIC LOOKS LIKE, and how we really live.JOHN EDWARDSHILLARY CLINTON BARACK OBAMAIf you would like to add a link for another candidate, please feel free....

Note: This aidpage was started as a comment on "MAKE A CHANGE...."This is MY message to the candidates - and yes, I included my name. **************************** I have tried to help people from all across our country just get by. For many of them it is impossible. I am a single mom raising 2 kids- 1 in college, 1 is going to college next year. I make $25,000/year. I have never had a new car, or been on vacation, and I will never have my own home. Like many of the people I try to help, I am one pay check away from being homeless. If you really want to help make a difference, then help the people here on www.aidpage.com THESE are the people who work for a living, who can't make it, but don't qualify for government assistance because they do work. Some have fallen ill and they have no insurance. Some are single parents. Others are caring for ill family members. Still others are veterans but our government has turned their back on them. Tell me, what will you do for them? Will you make promises that you won't keep or will you simply turn away like everyone else has?

Reply from Presidential Candidate : BARACK OBAMA

Note: This aidpage was started as a comment on "MAKE A CHANGE...."I did receive a reply from candidate Barack Obama. Here is his reply in its entirety: Dear Friend, Thank you for contacting me to share your thoughts and concerns about our economy. I appreciate hearing from you and agree that we can do better. Today, too many Americans work all day just to put a roof over their heads. They save every penny they earn so that their children can someday do better than they did. Then along comes an illness, an emergency, or a divorce, and those dreams are wiped away. We can make sure that every American family is financially secure by raising the minimum wage, securing pensions, protecting Social Security, and fixing our broken health care system. (Click here to learn more: http://www.barackobama.com/iss ues/healthcare/). As an Illinois State Senator, I joined both Democrats and Republicans to create the State Earned Income Tax Credit, which in three years provided over $100 million in tax cuts to families across Illinois; as President, I would increase the federal Earned Income Tax Credit. America’s economy is changing. We can no longer provide every member of our workforce the security of lifelong employment, but we can ensure that every American has lifelong employability. The first bill I introduced in the Senate, the HOPE Act, would make college more affordable by increasing the maximum Pell Grant, and I voted for similar legislation that Congress passed earlier this year. As President, I would make long-term investments in education, training, and workforce development, so that our workers have the skills they need to compete in the 21st century. We can be the generation that reshapes our economy for the digital age, invests in scientific research, and lays down broadband lines through the heart of inner cities and rural towns all across America. Only then will we be able to leverage our strengths – our American ingenuity and entrepreneurialism – to create high-wage jobs and prosper in a globalized world. We can also ensure that our economy prospers by creating a regulatory landscape in which entrepreneurs and small businesses can thrive, start-ups can launch, and all enterprises can compete effectively – while investors and consumers are protected against bad actors that cross the line. Thank you again for contacting me. Sincerely, Barack Obama

John Edwards' Reponse

Note: This aidpage was started as a comment on "MAKE A CHANGE...."I also received a reply from John Edwards' campaign HQ - personally, I not to impressed with him... Dear ....., My name is Heather McGhee and I work on domestic policy for John Edwards. This week, I've been traveling with John on the Road to One America tour. What I've seen has shown me the power we each have to change this country—even where the challenges are the most daunting. Yesterday, I walked with John and Elizabeth as they continued the Road to One America tour in New Orleans, Canton and Marks, Mississippi, where Martin Luther King, Jr. launched the famous Poor People's March in 1968. We visited the home of Mrs. Sammie Henley who hosted Dr. King in 1968. Her house was surrounded by flood waters, and Dr. King had to paddle a boat to her front porch. He famously described places like Marks as "an island of poverty" surrounded by an ocean of American wealth. Unfortunately, it certainly still feels that way today. You can see pictures, videos and stories from the tour at: www.johnedwards.com/road/day1/ Today, the tour will take us to Cleveland, Ohio, Youngstown, Ohio and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As part of the American "Rust Belt," these cities' economies have risen and fallen with the steel industry. Now, the loss of manufacturing jobs, a wave of foreclosures and falling home prices have made these communities targets of predatory lenders and mortgage brokers. But in these cities as in the others we have visited, residents and local officials are fighting back and coming up with ways to protect their neighborhoods. You can follow along throughout the day as we visit these communities and uncover stories of challenge and hope, at: www.johnedwards.com/road/day1/ Creating that opportunity begins with economically diverse schools that encourage higher achievement among all students. It's simple: If we want to break down divisions and create opportunity in our economy the place to start is our schools. There are many major steps we must take to truly build One America. But one thing I've seen clearly this week: There are heroes out here, already showing us the way. Take Anita Grabowski who is organizing poultry workers in Mississippi who are cheated out of wages in one of the most dangerous industrial jobs in America. Her organization, MPOWER, has been organizing low-wage poultry workers to collect the wages they're owed and the health care they need when injured on the job. Or how about "Cafe Reconcile" in New Orleans that has pulled a community together to give at-risk youth the second chance they deserve to build a better life for themselves. John and his campaign are working this week to uncover the stories that aren't being told about poverty in America and the people on the ground who are fighting to restore economic fairness. But telling the story is only the first step. We need to turn words into action and local solutions into national policies. And to do that, we need your help. Help spread the word about we're seeing out here on the road, by forwarding this link to your friends and asking them to join us on the road to One America. www.johnedwards.com/road/day1/ Thanks again for listening. We'll continue to keep you posted from the road. -- Heather McGhee Deputy Policy Director John Edwards for President Tuesday, July 17, 2007 P.S. All this week, John Edwards One Corps volunteers are organizing local actions to fight poverty in their community. If you're ready to roll up your sleeves and take action, this is the perfect way for you to get involved. Sign up to join a local action near you, or plan your own, at: http://blog.johnedwards.com/oc/oneamerica

Note: This aidpage was started as a comment on "Home page of terrybrokeinroanoke"Ok first thing first... If you haven't done so already:

1-apply for social services..
2- get some job placement assistance and/or skills training for your husband
3-check out the local food pantries
4-get help with rental assistance either thru HUD or SOCIAL SERVICES
5- get help with SSI/SSD

I know I might make it seem easy. I KNOW IT IS NOT and I know it takes time - sometimes MUCH longer than we want. But there is one site that you can go to to find all the organizations that can help you. I am including the link below.
Click on the link...
on the left side you will see a box to choose different options....
click on the 2nd box and scroll thru the list...
click on the subject you need...
and then click on your area in the 3rd box...
click on SEARCH NOW...
the organizations that may be able to help will be listed in the window to the right. I would post them here, but there are far too many.

I am also including the link for america's job exchange - it is the best site, by far that I can find for jobs and it encompasses the entire US.

I would also suggest The links on my home page for soulight, lady christie, elaine and ekikaseven's pages - they have a ton of help and information available as well.Contributed links:

Note: This aidpage was started as a comment on "Home page of Hondamatic"Hondamatic, Excuse me, but I just saw your reply to Lady Christie. First of all, let me say this: I, too, have done "hits for pay" and the majority of MY time was spent reading emails and since I did not troll boards scrounging up members, I never received a dime. My initial reaction to your post was disgust, but I felt it was harmless compared to most solicitations we receive here. BUT NOW, you have not only insulted, but were incredibly rude to someone who has spent more time helping people than you could ever imagine and you deny it to soulight. Your post is nothing more than a solicitation to increase your downline so YOU can receive more money. The more people you get signing up, the more $ YOU make - isn't that right? However, you failed to mention THAT in your post didn't you? Do everyone here a favor, apologize to LADY CHRISTIE, then take your solicitation elsewhere. No one here needs your kind of "help".

It didn't cost as much as your's, but it was enough to set me back even further. The best place I can refer you to is 211.org/kansas. It is the most comprehensive listing of non-profit and social service organizations that may be able to help. Other sites I can suggest are modest needs and prosper. Modest needs is a grant making organization for people in need. Prosper is a loan for people by people. I almost forgot - united health care also has a grant program for situations such as this. They may be able to help you get your sons hearing aids. I have included their link as well.

Note: This aidpage was started as a comment on "Car for Sale to Pay Rent"Honey, you might be better off working as a PCA or as a nurses aid in a nursing home... To work as a HHA in NY, I believe it is a 4-6 certification program and the starting wage is $10/hr. Most agencies will not only allow you to work as a PCA to get full time but also reimburse you for gas/mileage as well. I only say this because it sounds like you got a rotten deal with this particular agency - although I do not know the ins/outs of HHA certification in OH. As for the car situation, try: ways to work (link below) I would also suggest calling 2-1-1 ( free on your local phone) or logging on to 211.org. I tried, but could not find the nearest city to you. For extra money, you might also want to try sitter city or care.com - both are online sites where people look for baby sitters or assistance to help with the elderly in their home or yours. Also check the links to soulight, lady christie, elaine, and ekikaseven on my homepage. All have a ton of information that can help.Contributed links: ways to work211.orgsitter citycare.com

Grassroots.org - For non-profit information

GRASSROOTS.ORGThis is one site you have to see for yourself! If you want to start a non-profit, volunteer, get involved, or just do some research, this is the place to start! From Grassroots: "The mission of Grassroots.org is to serve as a catalyst for positive social change by leveraging modern technologies and business best practices. Grassroots.org spreads important social information via our network of socially-focused web sites, while also providing non-profit organizations with free valuable resources to increase their efficiency and productivity. Our ultimate goal is to adopt 10,000 nonprofit members, and to provide them each with an average of $10,000 of services per year at no charge (for a total savings of $100 million per year!). Additionally we will continually develop over 30 high profile nonprofit Internet portals in cooperation with specialist partners, utilizing high profile domains such as PlanetEarth.org, Relief.org, ImmigrationReform.com, Philanthropists.org, Diseases.org, Homeless.org, Crime.org, Liberties.com, and Childrens.net We strive to deliver clear and objective information that is usable by everyday global citizens, with extra emphasis on issues facing the United States. Our social action websites are designed to encourage individuals to get involved in their communities and to provide them with the information they need to make a difference. We focus on everyday citizens by offering free action oriented information on our sites, via our forums - and through our social action email addresses, blogs, and other technologies. We provide individuals with ways to express themselves, learn, share, and to volunteer on important projects. We focus on nonprofits by offering free services including our one of a kind Grassroots Toolbox full of free valuable web based services – plus full-featured web hosting, free domain registration, free website design, mentoring services, consulting and more."Thanks to Elaine for the link!

Emergency food and shelter board programThe above link will take you to a listing of states which list local non-profit organizations which may be able to assist you with your needs. The EFSP National Board does not provide direct client assistance.Direct assistance is provided through a variety of resources, which may include EFSP funding in your community. If you are in search of assistance for yourself or someone you know, you should look in the community services section of your local telephone directory. You should find these pages in the front of your directory and should look for listings for American Red Cross, Catholic Charities or Catholic Social Services, The Salvation Army, United Way Information and Referral, or other non-profit service providers. You may also click on Funded Organizations, here or on the EFSP homepage, to find organizations funded through EFSP in your community who may be able to assist or refer you to the appropriate assistance.Thank you Elaine for another GREAT LINK!!!

"I want my 10 million. That is what every one would have if all the money was distributed over the world correctly. So see it is just a matter of distribution. We all want our part no more no less. Why not?"

I believe that is the basis for COMMUNISM. It's a great theory, but it didn't work then and it won't work now.

Communism

   1. A system of government in which the state plans and controls the economy and a single, often authoritarian party holds power, claiming to make progress toward a higher social order in which ALL GOODS ARE EQUALLY SHARED BY THE PEOPLE.Contributed links:

Note: This aidpage was started as a comment on "Aidpage of mommy of 5"Oh no, he doesn't get off that easy! You go to child support offices and tell them what he is up to. By LAW he is required to support his children financially AND medically. Additionally, since HE left, he is required to support you in lifestyle you have been accustomed to - this does vary by state -so check with an atty on this one. Also, I am including the 211 site for pensacola - check there for additional help on local resources ( food, rental assistance, clothing utility assistance, etc) until the EX decides he has no alternative but to take care of his responsibility.Contributed links: florida child support211.org

To DEB3....

Note: This aidpage was started as a comment on "Aidpage of Deb3"Why is it when I post factual information,or MY observations I am OFF BASE? and the post is deleted? Why can't you just accept the fact that you are mistaken and what you posted was a poor reflection on you as a mental health professional? Is it simply that you cannot accept the fact that you were wrong and poorly educated? What you are proposing is communism. Had you been properly educated, you would know this. To give everyone $10 million is not only ineffectual on our economy, but irresponsible as well. Money, itself, would be worthless. People would be just as irresponsible as they are today - NOTHING would change. People, including you, need to realize that they are NOT entitled to anything (regardless of whom they think they are) and they have to work for everything. Greed has consumed today's society and led to not only wars, but the neglect of families and children. Having enough to barely get by is the norm, even though it is wrong. Until we stop this self obsession, nothing will ever change. Caring for our NEEDS should outweigh our WANTS. You, in your position as a MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR, as you so proudly claim, should be more responsible in your statements. As I stated before, if this is the precedent for all in the mental health field, I fear for the next generation needing your services.

TRAVELERS AID

7/22/07 Another GREAT link from ELAINE!!!TRAVELERS AIDFrom their site: "In the 21st Century, more people are traveling than ever before. Many are tethered to their support systems via credit cards, debit cards, cell phones or calling cards. An interruption to their travels is an inconvenience, but with money to spend and a reassuring call back home they can make the best of it. Such is not the case with people who live on the financial edge or when crime robs them of their identity and their resources. Traveling can be stressful under the best of circumstances, but an interrupted trip or an emergency is a crisis for the people involved, and Travelers Aid is there to help. Travelers Aid is most visible in transportation centers-the nation's busiest airports, as well as bus and train stations-where each year four million people seek information or assistance. Every situation is unique: A diabetic person has an unanticipated delay in his journey and realizes he needs medicine; a pre-paid phone card from Travelers Aid enables a teenager to contact her parents; a woman who can't speak English turns to Travelers Aid for help in contacting her family. Travelers Aid volunteers-more than 2400-provide reassurance as well as the information necessary for travelers to make informed decisions. Travelers Aid assists elderly and disabled persons, and anyone who needs extra attention to make their connections. Professional Skills and Urban Connections When persons become stranded, professional counselors step in to offer assistance. They engage the client and his or her family in the process of developing a plan that brings an end to the crisis and ensures a safe return "home." Travelers Aid has earned its motto of a "helping hand along the way." Travelers Aid began in the nation's largest cities and at its busiest crossroads. Primarily an urban phenomenon, Travelers Aid today serves metropolitan areas with a total population of 110 million. Travelers Aid is part of the fabric of social service agencies that respond to the needy. Homeless, and others, who feel disconnected in their own community, reach out to Travelers Aid. Whether through a local network referral process, or with specific programs geared to provide shelter and food, or training and support, Travelers Aid helps clients make the transition from crisis to independence. Examples include helping victims of domestic violence escape the trauma and get to a safe environment, aiding newly employed workers with local transit tickets, providing transitional housing, and serving as an advocate to ensure the needy get the services they require. A Continuing Benefit Travelers Aid has a rich history spanning three centuries, and diverse programming designed to meet the needs of stranded and disconnected people in each of its member communities. Although modes of transportation have changed over the years, the needs of travelers and disconnected persons have not. Today, mobility is crucial to the economy and to the American spirit of freedom and independence. The complexities of modern life make Travelers Aid more valuable today-and for more people-than when it first began.Travelers Aid International, based in Washington, D.C. is the national association for Travelers Aid agencies across the country. Supporting the Travelers Aid mission, TAI provides a myriad of services and assistance to member organizations in local communities nationwide, and also directly administers local programs. Travelers Aid International supports and assists its members by: Encouraging corporate support for local program needs Monitoring legislation Providing educational opportunities for program staff Enhancing information exchange through newsletters, and the Web site Providing technical assistance Supporting the establishment of new Travelers Aid programs Standards for inter-city transportation An active Board of Directors is drawn from member agencies, corporations, transportation-related organizations and associations, and those concerned with the provision of social services. TAI staff and the Board work together to safeguard and expand our core objective of directly aiding those disconnected from their support systems, in crisis, or in transition"

You could be receiving workers compensation. Otherwise you may be able to apply for Social security disability (SSD), or supplemental security income (SSI). Furthermore, you may also be eligible for Social services, including, food stamps, medicaid, utility assistance (HEAP). Additionally, you can utilize food pantries as well. I would also get 2nd opinion on that car. $2000 seems like an awful lot of money to repair a car that broke down.

Note: This aidpage was started as a comment on "Home page of Lisa42"Dear Lisa, WOW, you have come a long way. Congratulations! It is a long hard road, but you have taken the most difficult step on your own - YOU LEFT! And that is something you should be proud of. That took a lot of courage, not many women would have done the same. So, be proud of what you have accomplished. Now for the other stuff. It is overwhelming, but not impossible. First of all call NACA - their link is below. They should be able to help with the mortgage. 2nd - apply for SSD - You said you were diagnosed with bipolar and an array of health problems - you may be able to get SSD and your son as well. If you are approved, your children may be able to get dependent benefits. You may be able to get a probono atty to assist with filing for SSD as well. For the college expenses, apply for FAFSA - link below - due to your income, you may be able to get the kid's college expenses covered. For a vehicle- try ways to work - they may be able to help you get a loan for a vehicle to get you where you need to go. Now, none of this is guaranteed, but it is all worth a try. Give it a shot and let me know how it goes.
Overwhelmed?

What do you do when you don't know where to go, what to do, where to turn? Everything seems so overwhelming and it seems that no matter where you turn, you are turned away? STEP BACK. Take a breath. Take a break. Look at the situation realistically. Everything may seem out of proportion when you are too close to the situation. Look at it through someone else's eyes. Talk to other people. Ask them what they would do. Then take one section at a time and work on it. Do what you can. Instead of trying to pay the whole bill, try paying small payments at a time. Instead of trying to clean the whole room, clean one drawer. Instead of tackling all the problems at once, do ONE thing at a time. Focus on one problem before you try to tackle the rest. When that problem is resolved, or close to it, then move on to the next. Remember, above all, you cannot help anyone until you help yourself. Take care of your problems before you tackle anyone else's problems. Furthermore you cannot save ANYONE. People have to save themselves. If your brother, sister, spouse, or significant other has an addiction or is abusive, GET OUT! You cannot help them. No matter how many times they apologize, they will continue the same behavior over and over and over again - until they get PROFESSIONAL HELP. It cannot come from you. They have to go and get it. If there are children involved, get them out and keep them out. Keep them safe. They do not deserve to be abused because you cannot bear to be alone. It is time for you to grow up, accept responsibility and take care of the children who cannot care for themselves. They do not want you to stay together simply for the sake of staying together, Kids would rather have ONE PARENT, in a safe stable environment, than 2 parents who constantly fight and they fear coming home. Believe me, if your spouse is abusing you, it will not belong before they abuse the kids, if they are not doing it already. Think of the kids' needs before you think of your own wants.

For my sisters....

TO MY SISTERS ...There comes a time in every woman's life whenshe has to take a close look at herself. Not at hercircumstance, not at what she did, not how unfairlife is, or not at who made you do it. She hasto just look at herself in all her glory andimperfection. Have you ever admired a womanwho has been through changes in her life?Or have you made up in your mind that she isjust messed up. Before you make this mistake, take a closer look.A woman who has enduredthe most unusual life is someone of wisdom, someone who has been chosen by God to go through thingsthat have made her stronger.Think of all the great women in the Bible: MaryMagdalene, Ruth and Naomi, the woman withan issue of blood flow, and Esther, to name afew. Mary was maligned as a prostitute, a very uneasywoman. But by the time Jesus was done withher, she was His closest follower.Esther was unfortunate in marrying an abusiveman, but by the time God was done with her, shehad married one of the wealthiest men in the land.Women are so quick to beat the next one down instead of trying tohold her up. Before you wonder,"What's up with her?" ask yourself, "What's up with me?"That woman could be my mother, sister, aunt, in-law, stepmother, niece, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor, friend, or co-worker,etc.That woman could be me.Women are the carriers of life, not the channels of death. Let'sbuild and encourageeach other, as did Ruth and Naomi. Pass this to all the womenin your life.
JB DUNN.....

Note: This aidpage was started as a comment on "In dieing need of help"Dear jbdunn, WOW! What can I say? There are some really bad people out there. Those are the kind of women that make the rest of us look bad. I can make a few suggestions that may or may not be helpful. get a new checking account in your name only!!!! consult an atty in your area as to your rights ( possibly a restraining order to keep her from taking anything else) - most will do a consultation free of charge try local food pantries - this can atleast help you with your food bill until things calm down. try modest needs, they may be able to help you get a grant to cover some of your expenses. you can also try prosper - they may be able to loan you the money you need to get the creditors off your back - but hte money still needs to be repaid. If at all possible, is there anyway you could stay with family until you get back on your feet? I know you may not want to, but it would only be temporary, and maybe you could help them while they are helping you. I hope this information helps - Good luck!Contributed links: prospermodest needs

toospoiled.com & World voice news - online resumes

If you are like me and the millions of other people in this country, you have researched jobs online and even posted your resume online through reputable sites like: Yahoo Hot Job, Career Builder and Monster.com. You may have even received responses via email - it is the technology and information age isn't it? I recently received 2 emails in response to my online resume. One from Toospoiled.com and the other from World Voice News. I was hopeful at first, thinking I had finally found something that looked decent. Then I started really thinking about it. hmmmmmmmm Something wasn't quite right. I did some checking and sure enough - both are scams. I am posting a link that may be helpful. But please if nothing else, before you commit to ANYTHING - DO NOT DIVULGE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION UNTIL YOU HAVE CHECKED OUT THE COMPANY. LINK

how work can affect your life....

I have posted before about bullies in the workplace. I am no stranger to them. For the last 8 months I have dealt with one particular one who has been determined to get to me one way or another. Several years ago I was diagnosed with bipolar, anxiety and panic disorder. I have managed to go off disabilty and get a full time job with benefits to support me and my children. It was all i ever wanted - a normal life. Then along came Mary. I had worked with Mary before and when I interviewed for my current position, she gave me an excellent reference, as a result, I landed the job. Mary, apparently then felt she was entitled to treat me any way she pleased, regardless of the consequences. I now know, there were none to her. I, felt the full effect of those consequences. For 8 months, I have endured her psychological torture. Innuendos, comments, behaviors - all very subtle, but nonetheless destructive. For example, our air conditioning was broken in the office. The temperature soared to 80+ degrees. I turned on the fans, she would turn them off. I opened the door, she would close them. Every day this is how it went. If I was told to do something, she would question me - who, what, where, when, how, why? When I assisted a patient or a coworker - I received the same treatment from Mary. Endless questions and coments. Mary did what she pleased, when she pleased and disregarded the rules because, apparently she felt they did not apply to her. I began to doubt myself. I tried confronting her, treating her the same, ignoring her, and even talking to supervisors about the situation. Nothing changed - until today. I received my much anticipated employee performance review yesterday 8/7/07 - They grade from 1-4 : 1 being the worst - 4 being the best. I was allowed to to my own review first, then my newly appointed supervisor would give her opinion (she started that day). As I sat with my new supervisor, we reviewed my performance review together. My overall score was a 1. I was devastated. I ahd thought that above all, my customer services skills were far superior to those of my coworkers. My supervisor felt otherwise. She also stated that I needed to get along with my co-workers better and suggested I take customer service skill training. I went home last night and cried. After a mere 4 hours of sleep, I returned to work today, I tried to do my job, but the harder I tried the more difficult it became. I could feel my heart pounding and racing.I felt nauseous. I felt dizzy and shaky. I called my doctor and said I needed to see her. I left work and went straight there. When I got to see my doctor, I broke down. This was not my first visit to her about this same situation and I tried to explain, but I didn't need too. She understood. She immediately put me on 2 weeks full disability, pending her decision at my next appointment. I have to go back to counseling - something I tought I didn't need anymore - and see another psychiatrist. So why am I telling you all of this? I want you to understand how important your health is to you. I have worked for 15 years to get back some sense of normalcy in my life only to have 1 person tear me down in 8 months. 8 months. Simply because this woman is a bully and no one would listen. Sometimes, you have to do what is best to take care of yourself rather than simply go after the paycheck. ( thank you Elaine!) I know it is easier said than done - believe me I do. I know the road ahead is going to be long and hard, but I will never let another person treat me with such abuse and disrespect for a mere paycheck. It's not worth it. Had I stayed there any longer, most likely I would be dead. I have no doubt about that. When you deal with an abusive person day after day after day, you can be as strong as you want, but eventually it wears on you and no amount of strength can hold out forever. It will kill you. I was lucky to get out now and have time to recoup. I do not want to go back - like I said , I do not know where I will go from here, but God willing, it won't be back there.

Check the Fair Debt Collections Practice Act and then get names, numbers, addresses - all the info you can on the businesses that are calling you - if you can tape the call, even better.

Take all the information to your state attorney general and file a complaint.

You may even be able to file a civil suit against the collection agency but that is up to an atty to decide.Contributed links:

Note: This aidpage was started as a comment on "PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME"Get a restraining order - ASAP!!!! He is gone? KEEP IT THAT WAY!

NO matter what he says or does DO NOT let him back in that door!

Go to social services and apply for WIC, Welfare, food stamps, medicaid and HEAP. - Also check into child support - get it done now - do not wait and DO NOT let him get away without paying. HE has responsibilities - just like you do. Do what needs to be done.

Call the utility companies and make arrangements with them - explain to social services your situation, the shut off notices, and the outstanding rent.

Talk to your landlord about the rent and see if you can make arrangements for the outstanding rent.

If the "father" of the children comes back around - DO NOT OPEN the door - call the police if you have to, but do not fall for his BS - and do NOT give him any money - make sure every thing you have is put in the bank - out of his reach.

Note: This aidpage was started as a comment on "Home page of rev. larry"Why is it those who are trying to "SAVE" everyone always need money to do it? Doesn't God provide you with everything you need? Jesus Christ didn't have a website and look at all the people he reached just by walking around and speaking to them... Here's an idea: take some of that money that you spent on creating and maintaining your fancy website by Spencer Virtual Creations and put it where it belongs: in the hands of the people who need it for food, clothing, shelter, medicine, transportation, etc.

Comment: TO DEAN, in Chicago

Note: This aidpage was started as a comment on "please help my family"Dean, First of all, take your phone # and private email off the net - it only opens you up to scammers. 2nd - have you talked to your mom about HER wishes? is there health care proxy in place? Has she made her final wishes known and are they in writing? 3rd - have you spoken to hospice about your financial situation? They may be able to assist in some way regarding your mom's care (at the very least) or they may know of additional assistance for you and your immediate family. 4th - go to your county child support unit, have them track down the missing mom and get child support! Regardless of where she is or what she is doing she still has a LEGAL obligation to support her son financially! 5th - call HelpLink 1-800-725-5314 - they should be able to refer you to a number of organizations in your area that can assist you.You can also check out the link below for additional informationContributed links: 211.org
