I bring home two-thirds of my paycheck after taxes and insurance. I am a part-time student with a pre-teen daughter at home. I do receive pell grant. My child support is not what it should be. My bills are the essentials, (house and car payment, homeowners and car insurance, utilities, cable, home phone, internet access, and cell phone bills) no credit cards. Not to mention maintenance on the car, the cost of gas, groceries, personals, and clothing. I can afford the payment on my home, but I can't afford the repair and maintenance. When I decided to purchase my home, my main concern was keeping my children out of public housing. I had no clue it would be this hard to maintain it. I am now considering selling my home and finding somewhere to rent because I can not afford to maintain my home. My house is not a home to me, it's just a house because I can't afford to maintain it. I am now considering selling my home and finding somewhere to rent because I can not afford to maintain my home.I have checked into the Weatherization Program, USDA Rural Development, Community Grants, Community Action Agency, searched the internet for grant money, and called several offices in Montgomery only to come up empty handed. All of these programs are for low-income, disabled senior citizens. There seems to be no help available for people like me who don't depend on the government totally to survive.My question is: Are there any grants to help single working parents who can afford a house payment but can not afford the repair and maintenance on the home?
